Ecoba ENT "Growing Children Together" - Contributing meals to keep remoted children going to school

For disadvantaged children in the Northwest highlands, a simple lunch is a meal that feeds their dream of going to school, a joy that urges them to cross the mountains and cross the forest to go to school every day. Understanding that, recently Ecoba ENT has contributed nearly 2,000 lunches for 10 disadvantaged students in Dien Bien province in the school year 2021 – 2022, so that once again, school is no longer a far away dream, so that the “letter” can come closer to them.

Lack of food is a daily thingy on the high mountains of the Northwest. When their parents went to the fields, the children found cold rice left over from the night before. When the cold rice is no longer available, they lead each other to the fields, to the stream to find food. One day, when they were busy working in the fields, their parents did not come back, the children hugged each other to sleep hoping to overcome their hunger or devoured forest fruits or grabbed wild leaves by the roadside. Also because of the lack of food, at the age when they should have been able to go to school to play and study, they had to go out to take care of their parents, herd buffalo, cut the grass or stay at home to look after their younger siblings while their friends were spelling and reading.

The children in the Northwest can’t go to school because of lack of food, so the knowledge is bright as a kind of Light that is hard to reach children. Partly because the school is far away, they have to cross mountains and rivers to go to school, some of them have to cross two or three hills up to 7km to get to school. Partly dropped out of school because they were hungry and can’t afford to buy lunch for themself.

Participating in the project “Raising Children” of the Faith Volunteer Group with the goal of bringing meals to children in the highlands in the new school year, Ecoba ENT understands that in order to keep students going to school, it is necessary to have many elements, but all cannot begin without lunch. Only by eating at school, children can have a full afternoon nap, not having to go home and then drop out of school, or go to school with an empty stomach. It is also only when eating at school that parents do not let their children wander around looking for food, but send their children to school with a peace of mind.
